Top iPad photo editors reviewed on TechRadar

Editing photos on your iPad is extremely enjoyable thanks to its large glossy touchscreen. Armed with a great photo editing app you can be manipulating and fine tuning your photos wherever you are – you’re certainly free from the shackles of the PC when it comes to making the most of your images. It’s totally feasible to edit a batch of photos and share them via social media during your morning commute. But the selection of image editing apps on the market is vast and knowing which one will suit you best can be confusing, so we’ve tested all the iPad photo apps below. In this article for TechRadar I put the top 8 photo editing apps on test, so you can find your perfect partner and get creating.

Editing Portfolio: February 2013 247 Magazine with Paloma Faith cover

Feb-2013-cover-211x300I’m so happy to have double Brit Award nominee, Paloma Faith, gracing the cover of 247 Magazine and can’t wait to see her live at Plymouth Pavilions later this month.

Read what the singer / songwriter had to say on her new album, personal lyrics and being a feminist inside the February issue, which you can read here. Of course we’ve got lots of homegrown talent  from  the South West of England crammed into the issue too – this month we introduce you to Panda, Plymouth based DJs with an Infectious nu-garage sound and Audible 1, aka Alex Norgate, who has a unique take on drum and bass. This month’s fashion pages also have a distinctive local flavor too, as all the clothes are designed and modeled by the South West’s Alice Vandy. We get our action sport fix from Somerset – in the form of fearless street rider, Sam Baskett, who can clear truly amazing gaps on his BMX. Enjoy these features, plus all our regular features including music reviews, food, club and gig listings. This month we also expand our distribution to include Bristol within the South West edition – exciting times!

Photography Career Choices published in Digital Photographer magazine

Digital Photographer magazine carries a Career Advice section each month and I’m lucky enough to write it, shedding light on a different topic each month and answering readers’ questions. This month I look at the vast and varied sphere that is the photography job market and the more unusual career choices out there. Have a read below, the side panel on the taboo subject of funeral photography is particularly interesting.

New Clients: Ilex Press & Hungry Eye Magazine

I’m pleased to announce I’ve recently acquired two new clients: Ilex Press and Hungry Eye Magazine.

Ilex Press website
Ilex Press website
The first edition of iPad for Photographers
The 1st Edition of iPad for Photographers

Ilex Press is a leading book publisher who exists to address the new creative needs which are constantly being unveiled by the fast moving pace of the modern media, digital technology and popular culture. I’ve been commissioned to write the 2nd Edition of iPad For Photographers, which is very exciting.

The iPad is fast becoming the ultimate photographer s accessory, offering a high-quality = display screen, picture storage space, and an image-manipulation tool all in one powerful, portable package. In the book I’ll explain how this powerful accessory can revolutionise the way that photographers work, with topics including  photo-editing applications,  photo-sharing and display programs and useful tethered-shooting capabilities. I’ve already started work on the book, which is my first, and I’ll be sure to blog when it goes to press.

Hungry Eye Magazine is a high-end monthly magazine which brings the world of professional photography and filmmaking to the professional, the advanced, the inquisitive and the passionate. My first feature for Hungry Eye explores the role of the wedding photographer and the genres reputation within the image-making industry – I’ll blog when it publishes. On the back of this I’ve been given more juicy commissions and look forward to a lasting relationship with the magazine. Check out Hungry Eye on the web here.

Editing Portfolio: Oct/Nov issue of 247 Magazine

I’ve put lots of goodies in the October/November issue of 247 Magazine, which is out now – free to pick up in bars, clubs and shops in the South West and also to read online here. Our cover star, Cornish skateboarder, Matthew Perham talks to us about the South West scene, his trademark ticks and favorite skate spots and longevity within the sport. We’ve also got interviews with Irish rockers; A Plastic Rose, successful local DJ & producer; Phat Chex and punk rock giants; Gallows. This month’s icy fashion shoot is well worth a look too, if you’re after some hot threads to keep the cold weather out. Here are a few sample spreads from this month’s issue:
