GIVE WILDLIFE A HELPING HAND THIS SUMMER

In this feature for the January 2016 issue of Somerset Life magazine I look at the ways people can use their gardens to help wildlife thrive in the coming year. Have a read and be inspired to plant bee and butterfly friendly plants and flowers, feed and water the birds, be a friend to amphibians and create a haven for hedgehogs! I love wildlife and have enjoyed creating a wildlife friendly space in my own city garden, so it was a pleasure to write this piece. Thanks to Somerset Wildlife Trust for their help.

Roller derby feature in Somerset Life magazine

The South West Angels of Terror (SWAT) Roller Derby Team is based in both Somerset and Devon is putting the South West on the map for all the right reasons. The sport hails  from America with it’s roots in roller skating endurance races dating back to 1884. These days it is played by around 1,250 amateur leagues worldwide, with nearly half of these now outside of America. Dominated by all-female amateur teams, Roller Derby is now so popular that it was under consideration for the 2020 Olympics! In this feature for Somerset Life magazine I meet the team and even try my luck on skates…

Art meets furniture: Interview with Tom Rowan in Somerset Life magazine

1613789_827297120630171_1730980839_nLast month I had the pleasure of heading to Barrow Gurney in Somerset to meet furniture designer Tom Rowan and interview him for Somerset Life magazine. Tom’s work will blow you away: inspired by passions, memories and dreams and fuelled by a passion for speed and movement, his furniture bridges that important gap between art and function. Take a look a my feature below, see Tom’s website here and Somerset Life’s website here.

A passion for porcelain published in Somerset Life magazine

Inspired by the rural surroundings of Somerset and drawn to exploring the intimate relationship between porcelain and light, Claire Springfield’s ceramics are really rather special. I was lucky enough to visit her studio in Cossington to write a feature for Somerset Life this month. Read my article below (click for a bigger view) and see more of Claire’s work here.

Last month I took on an exciting new client: Somerset Life Magazine. My first feature for the glossy regional title sees me interview Tim Everett from Everett Fine Art,  who specialise in the restoration of oil paintings, and have done for more than fifty years, which has seen the company undertake an extraordinary variety and complexity of work. Take a look below.
