New series in Photography Monthly magazine

I’ve kicked off the New Year with a brand new monthly series in Photography Monthly magazine. Each month I’ll spend a day  shadowing a professional photographer at work to gain an insight into their unique vision and how they translate that into an image. This month I hit central London with street photographer David Solomons, who has the enviable ability to see the unusual in the everyday and to capture those fleeting moments that make memorable pictures.

Lecturing at UCP Marjon

I’ve just completed my first month at University College Marjon, Plymouth, where I’ve been a part-time guest lecturer, across their Media and Journalism courses. It’s been a steep learning curve – getting to grips with academia again, public speaking and changing my mind set from media creator to media teacher, but I’ve certainly enjoyed the challenge and the added variety to my working week. The seminar I’m taking this week is on review writing and next week’s lecture is on travel writing, then I’m moving on to teach some basic photography and image editing skills. I hope to be asked back next term too.

About Marjon
In the Sunday Times University Guide, UCP Marjon ranked 4th for Teaching Excellence (ahead of Oxford University) and are ranked 3rd overall amongst university colleges. Ofsted have rated their Primary Teacher Training as ‘Outstanding’. The university college offer a great range of courses from Foundation Degrees & Progression Courses to Honours Degrees and Postgraduate study. UCP Marjon has built a reputation for being ‘small and friendly’. With around 3500 students, the class sizes are small, which means tutors and fellow students get to know each other, but the institution is large enough to provide excellent facilities and social activities. Editing Portfolio: November’s 247 Magazine

I’m lucky enough to be the editor of the South West’s best lifestyle publication: 247 magazine. Fancy a look? Read the whole issue online at www. 247magazine.co.uk.

This month at 247 towers, we’ve been refusing to participate in premature Christmas activities and besides we’ve been far too busy getting to know up-and-coming South West bands, Melosa and The Rise. We also interview the endearing Josh T Pearson and the Iration Steppas, as well as Faltown founder and all round brilliant skateboarder, Alex Brinnen. Add into the mix our opinion of the regions best Mexican restaurants, graffiti inspired fashion shot and all the listings of the best events taking place this month and I hope you’ll agree it’s a killer issue.
