Editing Portfolio: March’s 247 Magazine

There is so much going on in the South West this month, it was tough gig deciding what to put in 247: the region’s biggest and best lifestyle magazine.  Lots of big acts are visiting our sunny shores this month – we interviewed covers stars; Noah and the Whale, met Southampton rockers; Band of Skulls and had a good old chin wag with hugely popular sing/songwriter; Maverick Sabre. As Always, we’ve got loads of home grown talent for you too – see our interview with Devon hip-hoppers; The Breaks Collective, meet Falmouth-based singer/songwriter Sarah RK and check out the work of Truro-based photographer, Jessica Augarde, in this month’s retro-inspired fashion shoot. We’ve got all the usual music reviews, action sport, food, culture, film and music listings too.

If you live in the South West pick up a free copy from a range of shops, bars, pubs and clubs, or, if not, read online here.

Editing Portfolio: November’s 247 Magazine

I’m lucky enough to be the editor of the South West’s best lifestyle publication: 247 magazine. Fancy a look? Read the whole issue online at www. 247magazine.co.uk.

This month at 247 towers, we’ve been refusing to participate in premature Christmas activities and besides we’ve been far too busy getting to know up-and-coming South West bands, Melosa and The Rise. We also interview the endearing Josh T Pearson and the Iration Steppas, as well as Faltown founder and all round brilliant skateboarder, Alex Brinnen. Add into the mix our opinion of the regions best Mexican restaurants, graffiti inspired fashion shot and all the listings of the best events taking place this month and I hope you’ll agree it’s a killer issue.

Editing Portfolio: October’s 247 Magazine

Autumn is approaching fast, no that you’d know it by the crazy weather recently. This issue we lead with a feature on a band very close to our hearts – Crazy Arm. We must declare a vested interest as two members of the band work for the magazine, but outside of that, they truly deserve a big up as they are on the verge of something big… Elsewhere, we talk to the biggest Drum and Bass DJ in the UK, Andy C, about his new Alive tour and show, we also catch up with US hip hop group, Ugly Duckling, before they appear in Exeter and Plymouth, and we also interview original prankster, Steve-O, and the excellent Benjamin Francis Leftwich. Add in all the usual fashion, art and listings info, and there you have it, your monthly helping of 247 Magazine, go forth and read it here.

Editing Portfolio: September’s 247 Magazine

September marks the end of the summer and the start of the very busy autumn gig season alongside the return of thousands of students back to the South West. In our latest issue of 247 Magazine we follow the story of a homeless man signed up to release his music. We chat to The Maccabee’s ahead of their Exeter gig, speak to Totnes based Cosmo Jarvis about this new album out this month, homegrown rock trio, The Subways who play in Falmouth in mid Sept and finally, last but no least, Metronomy, the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize nominee’s and latest success story to come out of the South west. They have two homecoming gigs in September, and 247 Magazine is proud to support them and play it’s part in getting them to finally play in Totes and Torquay.

Finally, to guide the new student faces coming to the region, we have our annual student guide, highlighting the best places to go, things to do and generally get the best out of the area. Alongside our monthly listings guide, our September issue is bursting at the seams – check out the online version here.

Editing Portfolio: August’s 247 Magazine

August in the South West of England means a number of things to us, tourists, mega busy roads, hot days on secret beaches/surf spots away from the crowds, BBQ’s with mates, parties in clubs and after parties fields and the mother on all music festivals – Boardmasters which rolls into Newquay this month. This issue we caught up with one of the headliners last month (Fatboy Slim) and this month we follow that with a chat to the boys in Bombay Bicycle Club ahead of their appearance at the two day festival at Watergate Bay, Newquay. We also catch up with Ginger, DJ Demonise and have a whole host of goodies to give away include tents and tickets to Watchet Live, Ivylive and Grandmaster Flash in early Sept. For our Fashion, we head to the park and if your at a loose end, we have over 500 listings of things and places to go out to throughout the month, so you have no excuse to stay in! Read the magazine online at www.247magazine.co.uk

July sees things getting busy on the party, gig and festival front as we catch up with international superstar, Fatboy Slim for an exclusive interview, in 247 Magazine. We also chat to The Datsuns ahead of their headline gig at Leopallooza in North Cornwall, at the end of the month. Other features include Torquay band, Oxbow Lakes and an interview with pro surfer Rob Barber, who gives us a great insight into the world of Bodyboarding. Here are a few sample spreads:

Editing portfolio: April Edition of 247 magazine

A sniff of sunshine and we’ve gone festival mad this month. Our Ultimate Festival Guide equips you with info about the festival best offerings in the region and beyond, but we haven’t stopped there, we’ve secured a pair of tickets for almost all of our featured festivals to give away. See the online competitions page at www.247magazine.co.uk for more details. Should you fail to win tickets, we tell you how you can still do festivals for free – by volunteering. We also advise on how to avoid the ‘festival freaks’ that seem to appear when you least expect them… All this and the usual listings, fashion and street art makes for a bumper 48-page mag for your reading pleasure.

Read the whole magazine online here.
