Autographer is a new type of camera which has been custom built to enable spontaneous, hands-free image capture. Its world leading technology includes a custom 136° eye view lens, an ultra small GPS unit and 5 in-built sensors. These sensors are fused by a sophisticated algorithm to tell the camera exactly the right moments to take photos. Autographer: Trapped behind the lens

I’ve recently started doing some work for Autographer – the world’s first intelligent wearable camera. My first piece for them, called ‘Trapped behind the lens’ has just gone live on their blog here. This piece deals with our obsession with documenting our lives and asks if you’re constantly watching through a lens or screen, poised to get the next picture, are you really there, enjoying the moment? Click here to read it.

Feature: A day in the life of a press photographer

In the second installment of a new series I’m writing for Photography Monthly, I spend a day with Brad Wakefield, an editorial photographer, employed by the South West News Service: the largest independent press agency in the UK. The day saw us cover a repatriation funeral at Bath Abbey and was quite an eye opener…

This feature has been published in the February edition of Photography Monthly, out now.

New series in Photography Monthly magazine

I’ve kicked off the New Year with a brand new monthly series in Photography Monthly magazine. Each month I’ll spend a day  shadowing a professional photographer at work to gain an insight into their unique vision and how they translate that into an image. This month I hit central London with street photographer David Solomons, who has the enviable ability to see the unusual in the everyday and to capture those fleeting moments that make memorable pictures.

Canon IXUS 310 HS review published on T3.com

When I reviewed the Canon IXUS 300 HS for T3.com last year I was disappointed with the low resolution of the LCD screen. Well, it looks like Canon has taken notes because the new IXUS 310 HS comes with a huge 3.2inch touchscreen LCD with an impressive 461,000 dot resolution. In my review of the stylish new IXUS 310 HS I find out what else Canon has improved for the new model… Head to www.t3.com to read my review.

Panasonic Lumix FT3 review published on T3.com

I spent some of last week out in the Spring sunshine putting Panasonic’s new super tough Lumix FT3 camera through it’s paces at the beach. The 12.1 MP compact has a feature-set which should really appeal to adrenalin junkies and extreme sports types – it’s dustproof, waterproof to 12 meters, shockproof to 2 meters and freezproof to -10 degrees. There’s also full HD Movie recording and a great GPS function. Does it take good pictures though? Click here to read my review and find out…
